Accurate Jovian Radio Flux Density Measurements Show Ammonia to be Subsaturated in the Upper Troposphere

چکیده
The availability of new accurate radio flux densities of Jupiter in and around the λ1.3 cm ammonia absorption band, one from groundbased radio data and five from the WMAP satellite, permits reexamination of the structure of the Jovian upper troposphere. These flux densities, with accuracies of 1–3%, indicate that the Jovian atmospheric ammonia is globally subsaturated within and above the ammonia cloud tops, 0.4 bar ≤ P ≤ 0.6 bar, and subsolar (by a factor of 2) below the cloud base, 0.6 bar ≤ P ≤ 2 bar.

On the abundance of non-cometary HCN on Jupiter.
Using one-dimensional thermochemical/photochemical kinetics and transport models, we examine the chemistry of nitrogen-bearing species in the Jovian troposphere in an attempt to explain the low observational upper limit for HCN. We track the dominant mechanisms for interconversion of N2-NH3 and HCN-NH3 in the deep, high-temperature troposphere and predict the rate-limiting step for the quenchin...
متن کاملNonlinear Model of Tape Wound Core Transformers
Recently, tape wound cores due to their excellent magnetic properties, are widely used in different types of transformers. Performance prediction of these transformers needs an accurate model with ability to determine flux distribution within the core and magnetic loss. Spiral structure of tape wound cores affects the flux distribution and always cause complication of analysis. In this paper, a...
متن کاملInterplanetary scattering effects in the jovian bKOM radio emission observed by Ulysses
The scattering of radio waves by the interplanetary medium (subsequently referred to simply as ‘scattering’) imposes limitations on measurements of fine temporal and angular structure at low radio frequencies. The jovian broad-band kilometric radiation (bKOM) is highly structured and observations of this emission, by the Unified Radio and Plasma Experiment (URAP) on board ULYSSES, have been use...
متن کاملOn the Relation Between the Large-Scale Tropospheric Circulation and Air Quality in Tehran
The large-scale tropospheric circulation can play a controlling role in the accumulation and ventilation of air pollutants. It thus impacts air quality in large urban areas. This paper investigates the statistical relations between the dynamical indices related to circulation in the troposphere and visibility as a surrogate for air pollution in the urban area of Tehran for the climatological pe...
متن کاملA Novel Sampling Approach in GNSS-RO Receivers with Open Loop Tracking Method
Propagation of radio occultation (RO) signals through the lower troposphere results in high phase acceleration and low signal to noise ratio signal. The excess Doppler estimation accuracy in lower troposphere is very important in receiving RO signals which can be estimated by sliding window spectral analysis. To do this, various frequency estimation methods such as MUSIC and ESPRIT can be adopt...
